Dorcas is a Christian Relief and Development
Organisation active in Eastern Europe and Africa. In these regions, Dorcas
works together with Local Partner Organisations. Dorcas is committed to fulfil
the command Jesus Christ gave to His followers to take care of the poor and
oppressed (Mt.25.31-46), irrespective of their race, religion, gender or
political conviction, by encouraging self-reliance through development,
providing social care and assisting in emergency situations. Due to leave of
our current Accountant for Tanzania country office, Dorcas is looking for an experienced
and motivated citizen for this post.
ACCOUNTANT (One year- renewable contract)
To be stationed in Arusha
Dorcas country office, Tanzania
The Accountant will be responsible
for:
1.0 Programs Financial
Management;
·
Responsible for Financial Management and Administration in Dorcas Aid
country office Tanzania
·
Monitor and Manages Program Funds and with partners as per Budget and
Planned activities
·
Manage the budget of the local office and programme assets
·
Good grasp of fiscal & HRM legislation in Tanzania
·
Perform
accounting and budgetary work
·
With support of Country Director, do local fundraising for projects
within the approved budgets
·
Assess progress and revisit financial reports from partners.
·
Assist partner organizations in developing and implementing budgets
·
Prepare financial statements and reports, analyze costs,
maintain budget files, interpret and analyze financial records/documentation
·
Prepare, discuss with Country Director about financial reports meant for
the Head Quarter (HQ)
·
Prepare bank reconciliation statements.
·
Undertake other
financially related tasks as assigned by the Country Director.
2.0 Position
Requirements;
- The position requires a person with Christian values who is active in his/her Christian faith and his/her church.
- Formal training on accounting and financial management, with BA/ Advanced Diploma plus computer literate
- Financial Project Management with nongovernmental setting
- Knowledge in accounts software/package(s)
- Good written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English & Swahili is a pre.
- The ability to manage some HR issues
- Able to analyze financial information in preparing monthly internal reports.
- Able to interact with the various departments at different levels and partners’s institutions
- Experience in a related field would deem the individual a highly desirable candidate for this position
- Able to work beyond normal work hours as and when is required by the employer.
Salary negotiable depending on qualifications
and experience.
