Christian relief and development organisation active in Eastern Europe and
Africa. In these regions Dorcas works together with local partner
organisations. Dorcas is committed to fulfil the command Jesus Christ gave to
His followers to take care of the poor and oppressed (Mt.25.31-46),
irrespective of their race, religion, gender or political conviction, by
encouraging self-reliance through development, providing social care and
assisting in emergency situations. Due to leave of our current Country Director
For Tanzania, Dorcas is looking for an experienced:
Country Director
Employment: 1,0 FTE
To be stationed in Arusha, Tanzania
The Country Director will be responsible for:
1.1 Project/Programs Management
1.1.1 Monitor and Coordinate Project
Implementation and progress in Plans
1.1.2 Appraise progress and evaluation reports.
1.1.3 Appraise new project proposals and budgets and
forward them to Dorcas Headquarters.
1.1.4 Assist partner organizations in developing
and implementing plans aimed at improving projects and the organization
1.1.5 Selecting partners and new projects and encourage
partners to take initiatives for innovative pilot projects.
1.1.6 Reporting about progress of
projects/programs to the International office.
1.2 Financial Management
1.2.1 Responsible for financial management and
Administration in Dorcas Aid country office
Tanzania
1.2.2 Manage the budget of the local office
1.2.3 Responsible for Local fundraising for
projects within the approved budgets
1.2.4 Prepare monthly financial reports
1.3 Organizational & Policy
Development
1.3.1 Leading the Dorcas Tanzanian office and
staff
1.3.2 Develop and maintain
contacts with government, other NGOs, embassies and other stakeholders which
include donors and volunteers who participate in work groups.
1.3.3 Actively participate in
development of the general policy of the country and strategic planning
1.3.4 Implement policy guidelines in the
organization and the projects
POSITION
REQUIREMENTS:
- As Dorcas is a Christian organisation,
the position requires a person with Christian values who is active in
his/her church.
- A relevant degree and/or project
management experience
- An understanding of the Logical
Framework Approach
- Good written and verbal communication
skills. Fluency in English & Swahili is a pre.
- The ability to raise funds and interact
with people at multiple levels
- Sound financial management skills and Experience
in monitoring and evaluation
- A valid driver’s licence and passport.
Salary negotiable depending
on qualifications and experience. One year (renewable) contract.
